Due Diligence & Business Partner Screening

Those who do business with others are often liable for more than their own area. With targeted compliance due diligence, you identify risks relating to business partners, suppliers, investors or acquisition targets before contracts are signed.

What is compliance due diligence for?

New business partners

Screening suppliers, sales partners, franchise or agency partners before signing contracts.

Investors & shareholders

Clarifying the source of funds and background of new investors in a traceable way.

Acquisitions

Assessing the compliance and money laundering risks of a target company in M&A transactions.

High-risk customers

In-depth review as part of enhanced due diligence under Section 15 GwG.

What we check

  • Identity and structure: commercial register, shareholders, ownership and control, beneficial owners
  • Sanctions and embargoes: screening against EU, UN and other relevant sanctions lists
  • Politically exposed persons: PEP status of officers and beneficial owners
  • Source of wealth and funds: plausibility for investors and larger transactions
  • Reputation and media: research on criminal proceedings, insolvencies, allegations of corruption or fraud (adverse media)
  • Country and industry risks: links to high-risk third countries or particularly vulnerable business areas
  • Compliance organisation: for target companies: risk assessment, policies, AML officer, training, audit findings

The result: a clear report

You receive a traceable due diligence report with a risk rating (low / medium / high), the red flags identified and concrete recommendations – for example additional evidence, contractual warranties or not entering into the business relationship. The report also serves as documentation of your diligence towards supervisory authorities and auditors.

Process

  1. Engagement & scopeDefine the depth of review according to occasion and risk.
  2. Data collectionEvaluate registers, lists, partner documents and public sources.
  3. AssessmentClassify red flags and rate the risk.
  4. Report & recommendationDiscuss the result and derive measures.
For recurring checks, we develop a standardised business partner check with you, including a questionnaire, review steps and an approval process – so your team can handle routine cases confidently on its own.
